I started my path towards my work as a psychotherapist with the goal of providing more access to compassionate understanding therapeutic support for folks who exist outside of the standard cultural ideas of sexual normalcy. Iād had too many conversations with friends and loved ones who felt unheld and unsafe in conversations with their therapists, especially when - as is often the case for people of Kink - they felt required to educate their therapists on the realities of living and loving as a healthy and happy kinky person in order for helpful therapy to even happen.
Many therapists still do not have clear understanding of what it means to work with a kinky client.
